The World Bank Group is comprised of three organizations: the World Bank Group, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and International Development Association (IDA). These organizations are all engaged in international development activities, and procurement plays a major role in the Group’s activities.
The World Bank Group’s procurement gateway, known as the World Bank e-Marketplace, is a central source for procurement opportunities. It provides a portal for suppliers to register, search, bid, and receive contract awards. The gateway is designed to allow suppliers to register with the World Bank Group and to receive email notifications of procurement opportunities. As a supplier, you can receive notifications by email when new procurement opportunities are posted.
World Bank procurement opportunities are aimed at organizations based in developing countries. IBRD and IDA procurement opportunities are aimed at organizations based in the countries where IBRD and IDA operate. Procurement opportunities from the World Bank Group (WBG) and IBRD and IDA are open to all bidders regardless of location.
Some procurement opportunities are restricted. These procurement opportunities are targeted at specific organizations, or at suppliers based in specific countries. For example, procurement opportunities from IBRD and IDA require bidders to be based in a country eligible for development assistance.
